Gardening my own veggies

I cannot take all the credits (my contribution limits to watering them every morning and eat the ones ready :-) )… but with the help of those green-fingers, the fabulous weather, and my eager to eat them all, we have managed to get a wonderful mini-farm.

We started with a nice bunch of biologic (organic) seeds, a good 50 liters of biologic ground and the HUGE luck of almost 2 months of uninterrupted sun (well nowadays it’s hard to say what is normal and what is not normal with all these climate changes)

.

So green-fingers took possession of the front right corner of the garden and after some work he prepared the mini-field for the seeds.

We started with one line of chard(spanish: acelga; dutch: warmoes); followed by a “forest” of radish (spanish: rábanitos; dutch:radijs), then leek (spanish: puerros; dutch:prei), then baby-carrots (spanish: mini-zanahorias; dutch: bospeen); then a fragrant line of coriander (spanish: cilantro) and finally a big mess (thanks to the cats) of purple-lettuce. Behind all that, there are three pots, one with spinach (spanish: espinaca; dutch: spinazie), another with rockets (spanish: arugula; dutch: rucola), and finally one with more coriander.

Only last week we welcome three more guests into the mini-farm: one yellow and one red bell-pepper plants (spanish: pimentones; dutch: paprika); four tomatoes and couple green-lettuces.

To finalize the inventory, we add to some herbs: parsley (spanish: perejil; dutch: petersile); oregano; basil (spanish: albahaca); rosemary (spanish: romero; dutch: rosemarijn); and thyme (spanish: tomillo; dutch: tijm)

I’m really really happy with this little veggie-farm. And I’m very glad that all these crops don’t have eyes to see my face of “grow grow that I want to eat you” every morning when I water them :P . I also cross fingers that the weather won’t change all of the sudden and we won’t see sun anymore.

The First JAMMY results

And this is my first bunch of radish… it was just a bomb of flavours, well maybe I’m biased, but I buy radish every saturday at the open-market and nothing compares to this :) .
